I sailed today through a pod of dolphins -
Propelled by mighty fins.
Their sails rode waves and tumbling froth;
My sails rode the wind.
What lies beneath that steel-grey dorsal?
If I could hear, what would they say?
What drives them to follow me?
Are they protecting, or is it play?
Together we sailed like this for a time,
Questions unanswered but thoughts aligned.
Then they sailed their way,
And I sailed mine.
